Raising up like a big girl!
Hello again!! Keller has arrived and is 7 weeks old now! HOLY COW! Time really does fly! I thought before I had her that when we got out of the hospital that I would keep up my blogging to keep everyone informed of our progress. Yeah, well...I didn't realize just how sleep deprived I would be! A friend told me a couple of days before I had her that I just needed to rest, rest, rest. I think I was a bit too anxious! Now is a different story! Oh, what I would do to be able to rest without one eye open! Anyway... Keller was born on July 13 at 6:03 p.m. She weighed 8 pounds and 12 ounces and was 20 inches long! We were scheduled to go the hospital Sunday night at 9:00 and as of Monday around 4:00 pm, things still had not progressed so we decided to go with a c-section. Honestly, looking back on it, I wouldn't have had it any other way! Everything went great! It was a strange feeling to be coherent and know that they were cutting me open! It's sad to say that I don't remember holding her or feeding her for the first time. I was still a little loopy!! The first thing I remember was when everyone was coming in the room with us to see her and my hand was shaking uncontrollably like I was really cold, but it was just the medicine wearing off. Everyone was so excited to see her and that she was finally here! We had a room full of visitors welcoming her into the world! She was passed around like a little football and she didn't mind at all! She just relaxed! She's such a good baby!! We ended up staying in the hospital until that Friday. I spiked a fever two days in a row and they made me go 24 hours without a fever before they would release me. And rest is not a possibility in the hospital.. The techs come in a bazillion times to check vitals, then the nurses are always in there, then the baby needs to be fed...etc, etc.. I was really glad to be going home! It made a huge difference in how I felt just to be home! The first couple of weeks were very trying! Sleepless nights galore!! Things are much better now! Tyler and I rotate feeding times so it's not so hard on either of us. The first time she slept 4 hours in a row it scared me! I woke up at 3:30 and she was still asleep, I thought for sure I'd slept through her crying, but I hadn't. I actually got up and put my finger under her nose to make sure she was still breathing!! Pitiful, I know!
The countdown has officially begun! I will be admitted to Springhill Memorial at 8:00 pm on Sunday night and they are scheduled to induce me on Monday morning! FINALLY!! We get to meet our little girl! Tyler is just beside himself! We had our last appointment this morning where we had an ultrasound and our regular exam. The ultrasound was so much fun! I just love 'em! Our ultrasound tech, Ms. Paula, said she looked like she was around 7 lbs, 11 ounces as of today. So, by Monday she should be around 8 lbs. Let's just hope! A friend of mine had a dream, or should I say a nightmare that she was 13 lbs! AHHH!!!! She did another short 4-D scan of her! She's got fat little cheeks and big lips and she has a ton of hair! Goodness, I can't wait to see her!! The doctor checked the schedule for tonight and tomorrow to see if we could possibly induce earlier than planned since she's fully developed, however the schedule was full... I guess that's a good thing seeing as how we have family that really want to be here and have a little bit of a drive to make. So, it makes it a little easier on others that she'll be here Monday instead. She's still a little bit of a wiggle worm! I think she's knockin telling me to let her out! At the appointment last week, he wanted to listen to her heart beat, well, when he put the machine on my belly, she poked back at him 3 times! I thought that was pretty funny! Anyways, we're getting really excited!! I'll post the 4-D picture that Tyler took today later when he gets done working and can email it to me! Ya'll feel free to scoot by the hospital!
Gotta love those doctors visits! OMG! And they have to do that every time I go in now until she’s born! GOOD LORD! I hope she comes before next Tuesday! That was painful! I now, I know…TMI… =) Everything went good at the doctor. Our next appointment is next Tuesday, at which I will have another ultrasound to determine her size and weight. Doc says depending on how big she is I may have to have a C-section. Yuck! However, whatever’s best for her! They also went ahead and scheduled to induce on the morning of the July 13th. Our ultrasound tech seems to think she’ll be here way before then! YAY!! She originally set us for the 11th, and when we told her the 13th today she looked at us like we were crazy! I told her we scheduled an ultrasound for next Tuesday and she said that she could possibly be here before then, since I’ve “dropped.” There we go with that word again! Lol.. The full moon is on the 7th of July, so we’ll see!Ok, so I'm quite overwhelmed by the presence of God this morning... Sitting in my office, I hear a song that I've heard and sang a hundred times or more, but it was new and fresh and needed! Wow, He absolutely amazes me at how His word is so alive and just as relevant today as is was 2000 years ago! And, no it's not just pregnancy hormones! I know the difference!! =) Simply amazing! Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come!!
Anyway, I'm super excited right now seeing as how Keller's furniture is in and will be here this weekend! Talk about stress relief! Well, not exactly.. I wasn't stressed, just trying to figure out how to organize things so that I'll be able to find them when we get home from the hospital with her. Now, I can get things straight, pending the possibility of her arriving before then... Which would be ok, then mom and Pam could spend an evening in her room organizing before I get home! hehehe!! I'm sure they wouldn't mind! Seeing as how mom said she wanted to come "play" Saturday, when we're putting things in place and Pam is chomping at the bit to get here! These women are CRAZY!! =) Nah, they're really excited though! I can tell every time I talk to one of them! They want to know the progress of her room, her growth, her everything! It cracks me up! So, if Keller doesn't plan to come this weekend, I'll post nursery pictures when it's finished! Yay!!
